Radovan Pavlovski was born November 23, 1937 in Nis, Former Yugoslavia. He studied law and literature at the University in Skopje, Macedonia. From 1964 until 1985 he worked as a publicist, travel writer, essayist and poet in Croatia and Serbia. Since 1985 he has lived in Skopje. He is a member of the Macedonian P.E.N. Centre, of the Macedonian Writers' Association, and of the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is the author of seventeen books of poetry, including a three-volume Selected Poems. His poetry has been translated into English, French, Swedish, Russian, Czech, Romanian, Turkish, Serbian, Slovenian, and Albanian. He is listed in the 1999 Internaional edition of Who's Who among Intellectuals.
